Wild Goose

Wild Goose Test Sculpt

This is a test sculpt to try out a second sculptor. who had mentioned that he was a big fan of the Wild Geese film.  He had an SLR handy in the stash, so this is the result.

Comment invited - anything not quite right, anything look odd?   (Aside from the SLR, known issue)

I have a few niggles but I'm broadly happy with it, so really tempted to flesh this out into a mini range (officers with Uzis, a Sterling or two, maybe a Madsen, some FN FALs, a Bren, Blindicide & Vickers etc..) so should anything be done differently if it was to be put into production?

These guys are a distraction as my main aim is to do some 70s/80s Brits in '68 pattern DPM and '58 webbing and full section/platoon weapons, head variants and so on. Suggestions taken, and if anyone happens to have served during that time frame and has a pic of themselves they'd like immortalised in miniature, I'm unashamedly on the scrounge for good source material!

(On the subject of photos, I should be getting images of the greens for the first two war correspondents later this week.)

Please do this, he is great! The only changes I would make would be to loose the backpack, no puttees and give him rolled up sleeves. He looks a touch… temperate. And a bit parade ground. He would however fit in well with Paul Hicks' late lamented Congo mercenaries from Mongrel.

And if you need BAOR service info, get on The Guild - there's a few ex-squaddies on there from that era with excellent stories!

  2. Thanks for the feedback! Hollywood vs Realism strikes - it's intended to capture the guys in the film, some of whom had packs. However - a more authentic pack with '58 webbing and rolled sleeves would be on the cards if we did this range (which is quite probably, although not definite).

  3. I don't mind a bit of Hollywood! I shall cross my fingers that you do well enough to get the chance to do a Wild Geese range.

(I like the other stuff you're coming out with too BTW). : )

  4. Love the idea of a Wild Geese range. If you are just going for basic webbing; ammo pouches and belt, how about a sprue of : ammo pouches, waterbottle pouches etc. No one seems to do this and they would be excellent conversion bits for other ranges as well.

  5. That's a tempting thought... we'll possibly be able to do weapon sprues too.
